I just saw WALL-E in theatres and I thought it was great… like every pixar movie i’ve seen thus far. The graphics were great, it was entertaining, humorous, and actually had a compelling story-line even though there was less dialogue then a Sylvester Stallone movie (not an easy feat mind you).

There are a couple of cool things I found on the internet regarding the movie. The first is extremely cool. It is a website for “Buy N Large.” This is the fictional walmart type store from the movie. The website looks completely real and is totally interactive. I just did a register lookup and it is owned by disney enterprises. The website is amazing… from employee profiles, product lines, and even a separate “news” website from which the below screenshot is taken. Take a look. Link

As a post-baccalaureate at the University of Minnesota, I have gained an appreciation for the work math and science majors put in (even if it takes them 5+ years to graduate). I have two courses that I need B+ or better in for admittance to graduate school. Have you have tried Linear Algebra or Calculus? Well, I am doing both now for the first time out of high school - and wow - dude, it totally sucks.

Previously, as a liberal arts student - wow - that shit was easy. Really easy. Hell, in a History course I got an “A” for writing a paper on the SPIKE TV show “Maximum Xtreme Challenge” and how it changed television history. It was a bull-shit paper. It was meaningless, but I got an “A.” And, now I’m pumping in, like, 9 hours studying for a fucking quiz. Yeah - I hate to say it - but props to math & science majors.

Speaking of which, I’ll be getting my ass kicked shortly in Blegen Hall Room 250 if anyone is interested in hearing me swear under my breath as I slowly creep through another exam.

R.I.P. Hopefully the death of George Carlin will bring a rejuvenation to the content of his material. He was a comedian who made you laugh and made you think.

Being without T.V. and Internet for three weeks sucks… Finally we got “basic cable” and internet up. In my stupidity, i thought basic cable meant all the channels that didn’t need a digital box to receive. I was wrong… We have only the main networks (abc, cbs, etc), the home shopping networks, and like 3 C-spans. I began to think… “what if C span was actually fun to watch.” With that idea, I’ve compilled a short list of governments that are way more interesting then our own along with a video clip.

British Government
England has a good thing going. The prime minister of their government must answer questions without talking points. I would be like a democrat asking president Bush a question on global warming with him being able prepare with the help of speech writers. There are a ton of clips on youtube with my favorite PM (blair) serving an opposition member.


Australian Government
Australia is full of characters. Recently the P.M mandated that parliament had to work 5 days a week. There was a giant upheaval which lead to the video below. Australia is great in that it is very similar to england in their bill discussions… but they also has the occasional parliament brawl.


Taiwanese Government
Not really much content here… imagine if the outcome of a bill in congress was decided by a battle in the octagon. Who do you think would pick up the folding chair first? Obama or McCain


I hope these videos help you realize that our government isn’t perfect… and governments around the world are getting things done as well.

First off, you should never listen to me when it comes to racing… I thought that Eight Bells was going to win the Kentucky… he lost… more then the race… then predicting Casino Drive whom later scratched. Althought I didn’t lose money like a lot of people did.

Now, as Grandma’s Marathon in Duluth quickly approaches I’ve decided to put together an illustrated guide of some hints I’ve learned over the past few years.

1. Don’t Drink - There is nothing worst then having to wake (if you even went to bed) up at 5:00 am jumping on a bus and running while still tasting beer in your mouth. The night entertainment is for everyone else… not the runners. And because alcohol is a diuretic it can lead to….

2. Don’t get dehydrated- - drink water. This guy, as the caption stated, was only 700 meters from the finish line before collapsing. running 26.0 miles for nothing would be a good time for anyone. Although the ‘ultima’ served at grandmas taste horrible… drink it anyway.

3. Don’t eat a big meal. If you end up like this guy at the end of the race and you stayed at my house the night before… you won’t be welcome back. I don’t care how much time you saved by not stopping at one of the biffs on the side of the road. Is your dignity worth less then the 5 minute stop? I wonder if this guy ordered the finish line photograph….

Movie Review. I haven’t seen Sex in the City. Nor do I plan on it. I have read reviews though … My favorite goes something like this,

“The film is another Taliban recruitment film — a grotesque and putrid valentine to the insipid “me, my lifestyle, my accessories and I” chick culture of the early 21st Century. Guys everywhere — if you’re in a brand-new relationship, take her to see this thing. If she even half-likes it, dump her and walk away cold. Save yourself!”

As an American, I am embarrassed by this movie. Of course, if we ever do catch Osama bin Laden, may I suggest caging him up in front of an Abercrombie and Fitch store in a large mall with digital display screens playing Sex in the City continuously throughout the day. He’ll be begging for Guantanamo Bay. Cheers.

I’m moving and without internet so its solely on Nate for new posts in the next week or so. Also I would like to apologies for below post “Review: Tales of Game’s Presents Chef Boyardee’s Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden, Chapter 1 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa.” Apparently Nate was on some type of drug at the time.
