review: flight Of The conchords show (minneapolis/dinkyville)
Flight of the Conchords graced the Orpheum Theatre last night in Minneapolis, and despite sitting rather far away and having an explosive bladder, I enjoyed my time at the show.
I don’t want to sound pretentious, but I usually don’t go to shows by “big acts.” Reason being: the people. Specifically: idiots who yell and scream and interrupt the act. For their act, FotC is all about subtle, slow, awkward dead-pan humor. It’s hard to enjoy the awkward silence when a 17 year-old girl screams “I want to marry you” or a drunken male yells, “Play If You’re Into It.”
Do these hecklers just want their 2 seconds in the spotlight? Do they think they are connecting to the band by yelling loudly and interrupting a joke or slowing the pace of the show? Do they want to be part of the show? Do they realize that they are possibly ruining the experience for someone else? Or are they just selfish?
I wanted to get out of my seat and punch every single one of these people to the ground, knock them out and singe their taint with an obnoxiously over-sized lighter bought at gas station check-out.
Anyways, I’m lovin’ the mustache Jermaine …
